KSEB solar feasibility: check before you buy.
Every rooftop solar system in Kerala connects through your local KSEB transformer. If that transformer is full, your system can be delayed or refused. Here is how to check, and what to do if there is no room.
The transformer decides how much solar you can add.
Your home is fed by a KSEB distribution transformer (DTR) shared with your neighbours. Kerala's rules allow rooftop solar on a transformer up to 90% of its rating. Once neighbours' systems fill that limit, new solar on the same transformer needs extra work before it can connect.
Many buyers find this out only after paying an installer. We check it first, as part of every free site assessment.
Check headroom on KSEB reCap.
- Find your consumer number and electrical section on your KSEB bill.
- Open the KSEB reCap portal at wss.kseb.in and enter those details.
- Read the remaining capacity. It shows how much more solar your transformer can take. If it is more than the system you plan, you are clear.
Three ways to still go solar.
Transformer upgrade
We apply to KSEB to augment the transformer's capacity so more solar can connect.
Zero-export system
The system powers your home in the day but sends nothing to the grid, so it does not need transformer headroom.
Feeder transfer
Where possible, we request moving your connection to a nearby line that has spare capacity.
